6 Ways to Overcome Indecision

The progress of your life depends on the
decisions you make. The reality of your life
today is based on the decision you made
yesterday. Many are afraid to make decisions
because they are afraid they will make the
wrong ones. What they are yet to understand is
that INDECISION IS A DECISION.
Someone once said, “It is better to make a
wrong decision than not make any decision at
all.” Therefore learn to overcome indecision.
When we make decisions, our decisions also
turn around to make us and invariably determine
the course and progress of our lives.
Here are 6 ways to overcome indecision and
make progress in your life;
Define Your Fears: Most times what keeps us
from making the decision we need to make is
the fear of what would be the outcome.
However if we can identify what it is that we
are actually afraid of;Listing possible solutions
or options, it will be easy to come up with a
way of dealing with our fears. It is less difficult
to make decisions when you know that some of
your fears can be handled.
Do Away With What People Will Think: often
times we allow the idea of “what people will
think” to get in the way of the decisions we are
about to make. This is likely going to blind us
to the true reality of the situation. You will find
yourself not doing many things you ought or
need to do if you are such person that
constantly worried about what others will think.
What you need to know is that at the end of the
day you are the only person who will live with
the decision or the indecision you’ve made ‘cos
it’s your life. Take full responsibility for it! The
desire to impress or satisfy others leaves you
either indecisive or constantly making the wrong
decisions. When we are less worried about what
others will think, it is easier to make decisions.
Don’t Dwell On It For So Long: Indecision can
also come from mulling or thinking over the
matter or issue more than necessary. The truth
is that every decision we about to make always
appear to have two sides to it. One side may
appeal to you while the other side will not. The
ability to analyze issues and seek more
information is needed to make good decisions
but too many analysis and information can get
you overwhelmed and makes it more difficult to
make the needed decision. Just get to know the
basic pros and cons of the decision you are
about to take. If the pros exceed the cons, you
have your answer already.
Learn To Be More Confident: People that lack
self-confidence hardly make their own decisions
because they belief that their decisions are never
going to be good enough. They never trusted
their abilities. This is a sign of a poor self-
esteem or self-worth. You can boost the
confidence and independence to make your own
decision by building your self-esteem
Trust Your Intuition: This is a feeling that
guides you to act in a certain way without fully
understanding why. It is that feeling you have
about something that turns out to be true.
Someone explained it as a “rational and direct
outgrowth of experience.” such experience
allows you to recognize what’s happening and/
or what to do. Intuition helps us make decisions
even when we don’t have all the facts. The
truth is we usually don’t have all the facts.
However this does not mean that you should
make blind decisions. But rather that you should
examine the facts and options you have. And if
some how your heart connects to one of the
options, have the boldness to go for it.
Understand That No One Will Always Get It
Right: Never forget that you are human. That
means no matter the facts you have, you may
not always get it right. However, don’t forget
that every decision you made and it later turned
out to be wrong will teach you something to
help you make a better decision next time. Every
success story has a mixture of both right and
wrong decisions. So let go of perfection and
write your own success story
