Turn Your Adversity To Opportunity

A story was told about a farmer who owned an old mule. One day the mule fell into the farmer’s well. After a careful consideration the farmer made up his mind that neither the mule nor the well was worth the trouble of saving. Next he called out to his neighbors and narrated what happened to them and ask them to help him cover the well with dirt and bury the old mule at least that will help put an end to his misery. When the mule initially noticed what was happening, he was alarmed. However, as the dirt kept coming on him, It dawned on him that each time the dirt landed on him he sub- consciously reacted by shaking it off and stepping up. So he consciously began doing it now, each time the dirt lands on him he will shake it off and step up. This he continued to do despite the pain he was going through. Not long afterwards he was able to step over the wall of the well triumphantly though exhausted and battered. Then he taught to himself, “what was actually supposed to kill me actually helped me.” You must have heard that what doesn’t kill you make you stronger. I have found that to be true depending on your attitude . Often times we may not see any reason for certain adversities and challenges that come upon us but the experiences from them can become confidence-builders and priceless sources of insight if we can only make up our minds to learn from them. Most of them actually happen for us to learn. When we get too comfortable we may never grow or become the best we can be. The mother eagle teaches her little ones to fly by making their nest uncomfortable so that they are forced out of it. So watch out! That challenge you never saw anything good has a positive side to it only if you can look beyond the pain. You may be in a situation where you have more questions than answers right now, just know that it is not the end. All Adversities Hold Opportunities Life is a never ending source of different, and sometimes challenging, experiences. According to Kevin Conroy,”Everyone is handed adversity in life. No one’s journey is easy. It’s how they handle it that makes people unique.” The biggest problem is not really the challenges we are facing but how we perceive them. Many successful people today were able to turn adversity to opportunity They took advantage of their adversity to become who they are today . The truth is that every adversity holds an opportunity that can either serve as a stepping stone or a vital lesson that will be of much help later. In other words adversities can be a source of change, and growth. Learning to deal with and overcome adversity is what makes us who we are. It All Depends on Your Response Like I have pointed out before, it is how we respond to challenges that makes the difference. It is very easy to dwell in self-pity during difficult times. However, when we look at these challenges from a positive angle, only then can we see the opportunities that come with them. Here are tips that will help you respond to adversities or challenges positively; •Accept that adversity is inevitable in life. It can come to anyone. This will prepare you mentally and emotionally to handle them when they come. •Don’t try to be it all alone. Encouragement matters. We have the courage to bear when we learn of the experiences of others. •Instead of allowing the pain of the moment to becloud you look beyond it and reflect on how come? Why now? What next? Get curious! And you will find the valuable insights in that situation.
